Talented European Tour Golfer, Chris Hanson, has become the latest supporter of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).
A pro-golfer of over ten years, Chris Hanson is a four-time Europro Tour champion and has had 3 top 10 finishes on the European Tour.
Chris became aware of the unique sacrifices that those in the Naval Service make when he met his caddy and friend, former Royal Marine, Steve Tooby.
He said:
“Steve is one of my closet friends, we have a unique relationship in the golfing world, and having heard so many stories of a Royal Marines life, I felt it was only right to try help raise awareness of the charity and to support it in any way I could. I have so much admiration for the job the RNRMC does.”
Having started playing golf at just three years of age, he turned professional in 2006 and is now aiming to break into the World’s Top 50 and to play in all the Majors and World Golf Championships. Alongside his corporate sponsors, Chris will now have the RNRMC logo proudly emblazoned on his golf club covers while he plays.
Stressing the importance of Steve’s support, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at the RNRMC, Alasdair Akass said:
“To have the professional European Golfer, Chris Hanson, support the RNRMC is hugely welcomed. Chris is one of Britain’s most exciting up and coming professional Golfers and to have him display our branding around the world is extremely exciting.
“Thank you to both Chris and his caddy, former Royal Marine, Steve Tooby, for their generous support of the RNRMC.”
Speaking about his relationship with the RNRMC, Chris said:
“After hearing first-hand the sacrifice that the Royal Navy and Royal Marines make for others, and the work that the RNRMC do, which can often go unnoticed, Steve and I felt that it was only right that we wanted to try and do anything we could to help.
“I also know that many Marines love their golf, so I’m always at the other end of an email for anyone wanting a few tips and help with their game!”
Chris and Steve will be fundraising at the Irish Open and Scottish Open Rolex events. For every round Chris makes a Birdie, £5 will be donated, while for each Eagle achieved, £10 will be given to the RNRMC.
