URNU Northumbria Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Universities Royal Naval Unit Northumbria (URNUN) is due to celebrate its 30th Anniversary since its formation in 1994. With funding from the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) - the unit will be holding a celebration day on Saturday 23 Nov 2024 at HMS CALLIOPE, Gateshead.

The event will host current Officer Cadets (OC’s) and training staff from across the North-East region (Northumbria, Newcastle and Durham Universities), former alumni OCs, who served in URNUN over the last 30 years and Royal Navy regional representatives from the North of England.
 
A celebration of 30 years of URNU Northumbria signifies the importance of the unit for recruitment, retention and relationship building - giving university students a broader understanding of Royal Navy life. Offering the chance to gain transferable skills by exposing students to leadership and management opportunities.

As part of the URNU, Officer Cadets benefit from the Command, Leadership and Management, Militarisation, Adventurous Training and Sport which the unit provides prior to their joining regular service.
