This week, HMS Prince of Wales opened its gangways to families and affiliates for a memorable and fun-filled Families Day – a highly anticipated event that was proudly supported by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).
Held on board one of the Royal Navy’s most iconic aircraft carriers, the day brought together hundreds of family members and loved ones of the ship’s company and wider Carrier Strike Group (CSG). Guests were treated to a range of family-friendly activities throughout the day, offering a rare glimpse into life at sea and the chance to spend quality time with serving personnel in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere.
RNRMC’s support was instrumental in bringing the day to life, enabling a variety of interactive experiences and entertainment for all ages. From children’s activities to engaging demonstrations, the day was designed to foster connection, boost morale, and recognise the vital role families play in supporting those who serve.
Ten RN Charities were on-hand to talk about how they support the Naval Community, including Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, Navy Families Federation, Aggie’s, Royal Naval Officers’ Charity, Greenwich Hospital, Naval Children’s Charity, Royal Naval Association and China Fleet Club.
Operation High Mast bags with lots of resources and information were handed out to families. The bags included two booklets; ‘A Pocket Guide to Royal Navy Charities’ and ‘Strengthening Families – By Your Side’, both launched at the event, both are vital resources designed to support serving personnel and their families through the challenges of naval life, particularly during periods of deployment or separation.
The booklets are available in hard copy and online via Operation High Mast.
Building on the success of the 2023 event, this year’s Families Day proved once again how important these moments are for strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories.
At RNRMC, we are proud to champion initiatives that celebrate the Royal Navy community and shine a light on the invaluable support system behind every sailor and Royal Marine.
