Royal Marines & Supporters Brave the Freezing Waters for Cold Dip Commando: The Timspiration Tour

Beneficiary, Fundraising, General

This January, the Cold Dip Commando: The Timspiration Tour is making waves across the UK, honouring the final wish of Tim, a former Royal Marine, who wanted to take on one last challenge. While Tim sadly ran out of time, his family and Commando comrades have ensured his legacy continues—31 extreme cold dips, in 31 UK locations, over 3,100 miles, all in support of four vital causes:

  • The Royal Marines Charity
  • Lymphoma Action
  • The Bowra Foundation
  • Rock2Recovery

On 30th of January 2025, over 100 Royal Marines, veterans, and supporters gathered at Eastney Beach, Portsmouth, for one of the challenge’s toughest dips yet. Among them were RNRMC team members Joe Standen (RM Veteran), Kev Bell (RN Veteran), Adam Silverthorne, and Shannon Cooper, braving the icy waters in true Commando spirit.

As the crowd cheered and the sun shone over the Solent, participants waded into the freezing sea, driven by camaraderie, resilience, and the shared goal of raising £10,000 for these life-changing charities. Each shiver, gasp, and victorious cheer was a testament to the strength of the Royal Marines family and the enduring legacy of Tim’s inspirational challenge.

This incredible event is still accepting donations. If you’d like to support the cause, please visit Crowdfunding to funds for the Royal Marine Charity, Lymphoma Action, The Bowra Foundation and Rock to Recovery, doing 31 cold dips in 31 days in Jan. on JustGiving and help make a difference.
