RNRMC Supports HMS Collingwood Junior Rates' bar refurbishment

Beneficiary, Grants

Captain Tim Davey, Commanding Officer, HMS Collingwood officially opened the newly refurbished bar located in Howe Building at the Fareham site.

‘The Anchor’ bar, primarily there for the recreation and leisure of Phase 2 trainees and Junior Rates, came into being following many different parties and organisations pulling together to achieve this improved facility.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) provided a grant for the refurbishment, with Chief Petty Officer Dave Judson leading the project to deliver. Designing the layout, ordering the fixtures and fittings, liaising with VIVO for the works and ESS the catering provider, he worked tirelessly to achieve this within a two-month period.

Of special mention should be the team of Phase 2 sailors who helped design the layout, including colour schemes and who came up with the name and design of ‘The Anchor’.

It is a genuine privilege to open the Anchor Bar today. A superb example of the whole force team here coming together in a brilliant partnership to improve the lived experience for our sailors. We are hugely grateful for the RNRMC’s generous support.
