Sam Nicolson joined the team in 2008 as the Chief Financial Officer.
Sam’s long history of accounting positions – which have seen her manage financial projects for global businesses, be a school governor and a pre-school treasurer, amongst others – made her the ideal candidate for overseeing The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity’s Group finances.
Portsmouth-born Sam moved to London for 10 years in her late teens to pursue a career in finance. She became a Chartered Management Accountant, working for companies like IBM and Unisys, before moving back south to enjoy family life with her two girls.
Sam, a keen ’team player’, has made a significant difference at the RNRMC by using her financial skills to bring all the Charity’s funds and organisations together, under a Group finance department, showing the benefits of joint working to maximise efficiencies. She is working on further streamlining the RNRMC’s external business relationships to open people’s eyes to what they can achieve professionally within the organisation.
Sam is an original member of RNRMC staff, having joined the Charity upon its inception. One of her most significant projects includes the integration of The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund into the RNRMC in 2011 and the Drumfork Project in 2018. Sam is also a Trustee for Naomi House.
