WRNS Benevolent Trust Host 79th AGM

Event, General

Thursday 22nd July saw the WRNS Benevolent Trust meet for their 79th Annual General Meeting. The AGM took place at HMS Collingwood and was attended by an audience of socially distanced guests, including WRNS BT Patron, Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal.

In their first face-to-face meeting since 2019 the Charity presented their Annual Report and Accounts for 2020. This was followed by a talk from a guest speaker, Grp Captain Kath Sherit, RAF Ret’d, who introduced her new book entitled ‘Women on the Front Line’.

The RNRMC have a long-standing partnership with the WRNS BT and the two organisations are intertwined though a shared patron and collaborative working. There is further synergy between the charities as Sarah Ayton is the WRNS BT General Secretary also sits on the RNRMC’s Through Life Grants Committee and Mandy Lindley, RNRMC Director of Relationships and Funding, is a representative on the WRNS BT Trustee Board. Mandy attended the AGM and said:

“It was a pleasure to be at HMS Collingwood for a socially distanced, but face-to-face AGM with HRH The Princess Royal, the Charity's patron, in attendance. HRH was pleased that the meeting was able to take place in person and she was able to hear from those present how they had been supporting the community of Wrens throughout the pandemic. I enjoyed the opportunity to be back together with other Wrens and experience the feeling of comradeship that is ever-present in our community.”
