£368,500 Awarded to Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity to Support Submariner Families in the West of Scotland

General

As the Principal Charity of the Royal Navy, RNRMC has been awarded £368,500 over three years by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to deliver a new project —Strengthening Families – West of Scotland—focused on supporting Royal Navy Submariner families facing challenges of separation.

The funding forms part of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Apart Not Alone portfolio. This funding will enable RNRMC to launch a regionally focused programme in the West of Scotland, aimed at supporting Submariner families, bringing organisations together to improve mental health and wellbeing, fostering community connection, and enhancing social support.

A dedicated RNRMC team will be based locally and work alongside community partners to provide tailored services and strengthen long-term family resilience. Due to the nature of operations, submariner families often face extended periods of separation and limited communication with loved ones.

“Our Submariner families show incredible strength and commitment, often enduring long periods of separation with no communication. This project recognises their unique sacrifices and will enable further development of meaningful support where it’s most needed. We’re immensely grateful to RNRMC and the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for investing in the wellbeing of our people.”

We are pleased to support RNRMC with this important grant through our ‘Apart Not Alone’ programme. The Royal Naval Community in the West of Scotland face unique challenges due to long and silent separations. This project will build a framework of vital support and connection, helping families build resilience and feel less alone.
