Appointed in 2015 as Director of Relationships and Funding, Mandy is responsible for all grant-making and commissioning, is a member of the RNRMC Executive team and is a Trustee of The Women’s Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust. She brings a commitment to her role driven by her time in service and experience of communities which has led to a change in focus to the charities grantmaking based on a stronger focus on early intervention and prevention, understanding of need and demonstrating better evidenced outcomes.
In addition to her service in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, she has worked as a senior leader in local government including the commissioning lead for Carers and Veterans mental health for a population of over 300,000 in the South-East of England. Her senior role involved building public services partnerships with the voluntary and community sector, working with parliamentary representatives and national government departments.
Mandy moved to the voluntary and community sector after leaving the Royal Navy to start a family; thereafter she had 15 years’ experience in early years and as the founder and manager for Home-Start Portsmouth, working to help improve parenting and family life.
Originally from the north of England, Mandy, and her husband Paul (also a naval veteran) live by the sea on the south coast close to their two children, three granddaughters and grandson.
