Hon. Captain Lance Batchelor RNR is the Lead Non Executive Director on the Navy Board. He is Chairman of Reed & Mackay, the premium corporate travel company, and of Ometria, the retail customer marketing platform.
Lance was previously the CEO of, in turn: Tesco Mobile, Domino's Pizza Plc and Saga Plc. Earlier in his career he was the Marketing Director of P&G then Vodafone.
Lance's early career was in the Royal Navy, where he served for eight years starting in 1982. He started as an RNR watch-keeping officer in minesweepers, then completed his professional training in HMS Invincible, HMS Shetland and HMS Brave. He then qualified as a submariner and served at sea in HMS Conqueror and then at the Northwood HQ, as the Flag Lt to Flag Officer Submarines.
Lance holds a BSc (Econ) from Aberystwyth and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is married to Wendy, a tribunal Judge, and they have four university aged sons.
