Eric Fraser joined the staff of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity in December 2021 as its Senior Representative in Scotland.
This role had recently been established to help improve awareness of the charity’s work in Scotland, reinforce links with the local naval community and establish a closer relationship with similar organisations that operate north of the border.
Prior to this appointment Eric spent four years as Scotland’s first Veterans Commissioner where he authored a series of reports for the Scottish Government on issues such as Transition, Housing, Employability and Health. These included a series of recommendations – all of which are now being implemented by Ministers - which sought to improve how veterans and their families are seen and supported in Scotland. This followed a hugely satisfying career in the Royal Navy which saw him command at sea and ashore, and then culminated in an extended tour as Naval Attaché in Washington DC.
