Injury meant I had to leave the Royal Navy. I felt scared and didn't know where to turn.

When serving in Iraq, Janet was travelling in a helicopter which was shot down. She suffered life-changing injuries which led to her being medically discharged from the Royal Navy and the difficult decision was made to amputate her leg.

“I felt like I’d lost my family. I didn’t know where to go. I was in a terrible storm.”

Thanks to donations to the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, Janet and other veterans like her don’t have to face life's storms alone.

Janet joined a veteran's sailing project, Turn to Starboard, supported by the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity.

I’m now sailing again. I get to be around other veterans and make new friends. They have given me a purpose in life. They have given me my life back.

Please donate to the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity Christmas appeal – Support in a Storm - to help veterans like Janet, as well as the serving and their families.
