RNRMC is looking to recruit a Partnerships and Events Fundraiser to be part of our Major Giving Team.
Location: Portsmouth (with some travel required).

This role will support the Head of Major Giving in delivering flagship special events such as our incredible Trafalgar Night Dinner at the Painted Hall and help build the portfolio of Major income streams with a focus on prospect research and stewardship of our corporate partners. The individual will have an opportunity to develop their Corporate and Major Donor fundraising knowledge and support the growth and profile-raising of the charity as well as playing a central role in developing a valuable income stream.

Role

The individual will have an opportunity to develop their Corporate and Major Donor fundraising knowledge and support the growth and profile-raising of the charity as well as playing a central role in developing a valuable income stream.
We will want you to ensure that the RNRMC is agile as the country recovers from COVID-19. We hope you will have experience of delivering events virtually and physically, as well successfully recruiting onto partnership events like marathons and treks.
This role will be responsible for researching new and warm leads, enabling the Head of Major Giving to deliver tailored pitches and bespoke proposals to prospect donors (Corporate and Individual) and account manage our portfolio of Silver Partners. The position holder will work across departments with the Marketing and Database team on a regular basis to deliver e-newsletters to our HNW Partners with the support of the grants team and maintain thorough records on our Blackbaud database.
Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Major Giving, the role of Partnerships and Events Fundraiser includes:
- Project lead our flagship event’s programme including the bi-annual Trafalgar Night Dinner in 2021 and smaller virtual events
- Supporting the Head of Major Giving in their relationship management which could include copy writing, preparation of written communications, pulling info from RE, sharing resources or helping to manage the donor journey through updating tracking spreadsheets and RE records
- Account manage their own portfolio of Silver partners £5k+ alongside supporting the overall strategy
- Develop and maintain prospect research in both corporate and Major Donor fundraising
- Working with the Head of Major Giving to deliver the monthly Communications both Corporate and Major Donors which will include Pledge Renewals, monthly e-comms, event invites and the occasional postal mail outs. This will also involve cross departmental working
- Help support the administration of the ‘Development Council’ with Meeting management and to include note taking and helping to drive forward actions
- Consummate networker, able to spot opportunities and connections and build on them
- Maintain detailed records in our supporter database, Raisers Edge, capturing relevant donor information in line with data protection laws, with a goal of creating an organised, enduring data set available for future utilisation.
- Assess and monitor progress using agreed Key Performance Indicators.
Compliance
- Work closely with the Group Finance Manger on ensuring partnerships are complying to VAT / Gift Aid regulations
- Establish best practices for the role in line with National Occupational Standards for fundraising.
- Responsible for personal development and knowledge of corporate practices and GDPR.
Person Specification
Essential skills and experience:
- Degree educated
- At least 2 years’ experience in Events or corporate fundraising
- Good demonstrable experience in project management and/or external facing client management
- Experience of providing team support
- Experience of working in a busy, high pressured environment
- Experience in soliciting major corporate gifts.
- Experience of success in developing relationships to achieve results within a fundraising environment
- Experience of negotiating and drawing up Corporate Income Agreements
- Knowledge of a wide range of fundraising mechanisms including CRM, COTY, sponsorship, brand association and strategic partnerships
- Committed to maximising corporate income generation
- Confident handling of financial information, including budgeting, planning, and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with executives, supporters, internal teams, and various stakeholders
- Strong prioritisation, time-management, and organisational skills
- A valid driving licence and the willingness to travel on occasion are required.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to convey key messages to different audiences in a clear and effective way
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word,Teams, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with the Blackbaud database
- Experience composing pitching and proposal materials
- Understanding of Naval or military environments
- Working knowledge of Gift Aid
