RNRMC grant gives £26k boost for SSAFA’s Mentoring Service

Beneficiary, Grants

The Mentoring service of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity has been granted £26,000 by the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) to continue its Transitional Mentoring Scheme. SSAFA’s Mentors provided hundreds of men and women with advice and support as they move from a career in the Armed Forces to civilian life.

The RNRMC grant is ringfenced for members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines leaving the Naval Service, it will allow SSAFA Mentors to continue to give one-to-one, face-to-face support during transition and for up to two years post discharge.

“Our vision is for a society in which the Armed Forces, veterans and their families can thrive, and we can only achieve this through the support of our key partners such as RNRMC.”

Clare Bain, Mentoring Services Manager at SSAFA

SSAFA support covers both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service. SSAFA knows and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, offering help to enable the Forces family to thrive.

“As a charity dedicated to supporting our Forces family, we are thrilled to be able to provide this boost to SSAFA’s Mentoring service. We understand the challenges faced by service leavers as they transition into civilian life, and this mentoring service plays a critical role in guiding them through this period. By investing in this initiative, we are helping to ensure that those who have served our country are given the support they need to successfully build their lives post-service.”
