In early April, a visit was made to see the second Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, in Rosyth Dockyard near Edinburgh by some members of the Fundraising and Marketing team.

A Charity presentation was made to a ‘clear lower deck’ of the ships company (a whole ship gathering for the CO to address the ships company on his vision, mission and statement). This was a special privilege for the RNRMC team as  they witnessed the giving of Herbert Lott citations and a well-earned and diverse array of medals for meritorious or outstanding service or achievement. The CO, Commodore Stephen Moorhouse OBE, has also pledged to raise £100,000 for a small number of selected charities including the RNRMC, before the carrier sails from Rosyth for sea trials.

After the presentation, a tour to meet and greet the ship’s company ensued – giving the Charity team a chance to hear and learn about the wide variety of roles on board and see how working life will be conducted on the new carrier. Many of the crew are actively taking on a variety of challenges to contribute to the fundraising target set by the CO.
