Last month a special opportunity arose to take a small group of Nelson’s Company and other guests to experience a First Patrol Boat Squad Exercise – SQUADEX 19.
All fourteen Royal Navy fast patrol boats were gathered to give the young trainees and Officer CO’s a chance to work together logistically on tactical manoeuvring at sea. As well as looking after external guests with great charm and generosity, they took their ships out to sea offshore with a heritage vessel, MEDUSA. 814 Navy Air Squadron, provided a Merlin helicopter fly-by and took a series of aerial photographs as the P2000’s positioned into arrow and a starburst formations. By all accounts, it was a tremendous opportunity for Nelson’s Company supporters to meet and experience some of the impressive young trainees coming through, across all the ratings.
