As a Royal Navy Spouse and a mother of three, Diane shares her story and her invaluable experience with Kings Camps. She highlights the impact of the 1:1 support offered there, specifically tailored to her son with Autism, which has greatly helped her family during the school holidays. This 1:1 support is made possible through the funding provided by RNRMC.

My husband is in the Royal Navy and is currently deployed on operations. I was in the RAF but have now left. I have a stepson who is 11. Together we have two children, a boy and a girl who are 5 & 6 years old.

Our family and support network live hours from us. I feel like a single parent when my husband is away for long periods, and it is difficult to juggle working full time with children.

The military member of the family can go away at a moment's notice and sometimes there is no end date. They then come home and can be deployed very soon after. It’s very confusing and unsettling for the children and puts a strain on the remaining member of the family at home.
